Chromebook Storage

What is the best and cheapest way to store Chromebooks in classes?

There are lots of bespoke and often expensive options to store Chromebooks. Here, I am focussing on DIY. I have gathered some ideas I have seen that work well in classes.

Consider whether the Chromebooks need to be charged and stored securely, i.e. more than just locked in the classroom. Storage systems for charging need to allow for good air circulation and management of all those cables.

Also, think about the learners in your space getting Chromebooks out and putting them away. Perhaps monitors might work or break up the storage into more than one place. You could even have ways to store during the day that can then be put away at the end of the day.

One option is to use a cheap storage cabinet purchased as a flatpack and adapted. Here are some examples.

An example using cardboard boxes inside a cupboard. A reason to save all those boxes the Chromebooks arrived in.

Creating Images

We were learning to use sumo paint. I found the toolbar took a while to learn to use. Removing objects was the hardest part for me. I can see having a bank of drawings to use elsewhere when I needed them would be worthwhile.

Sculpting

We had fun creating today in Sculptgl, a web-based sculpting tool. I used a mouse to create this guy. I think a stylus on an iPad would be even easier.

I sent my project to Sketchfab from within SculptGL and could then get an embed code. However, the colour did not come through as expected so I have screenshots as well.

The World from Space

This is my artwork from NASA images. I found this fun but I would like to be able to colour the Earth with more details and different colours.

Embedding Video without next video

How to embed YouTube videos and not have other videos showing at the end of the video.

Embed code example

Here is an example of the embed code copied from YouTube with the extra code added in bold (and red).
 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i0sOq7EbQWI?rel=0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Change the width and height to fit nicely

I use an aspect ratio calculator to ensure I preserve the correct ratio. https://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/

Full Screen

Unfortunately, full screen is not available using this embed method. Learners can use the pinch gesture to make the video bigger on their screen.

Creating an Image

We are learning to use Sumo Paint and create a drawing that goes with this text:

I am learning to use the tools and I have added layers although I downloaded it as one image. I gave the image a title so I can find it again.
