Creating Images

We were learning to use sumo paint. I found the toolbar took a while to learn to use. Removing objects was the hardest part for me. I can see having a bank of drawings to use elsewhere when I needed them would be worthwhile.

Sculpting

We had fun creating today in Sculptgl, a web-based sculpting tool. I used a mouse to create this guy. I think a stylus on an iPad would be even easier.

I sent my project to Sketchfab from within SculptGL and could then get an embed code. However, the colour did not come through as expected so I have screenshots as well.

The World from Space

This is my artwork from NASA images. I found this fun but I would like to be able to colour the Earth with more details and different colours.

Embedding Video without next video

How to embed YouTube videos and not have other videos showing at the end of the video.

Embed code example

Here is an example of the embed code copied from YouTube with the extra code added in bold (and red).
 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i0sOq7EbQWI?rel=0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Change the width and height to fit nicely

I use an aspect ratio calculator to ensure I preserve the correct ratio. https://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/

Full Screen

Unfortunately, full screen is not available using this embed method. Learners can use the pinch gesture to make the video bigger on their screen.

Creating an Image

We are learning to use Sumo Paint and create a drawing that goes with this text:

I am learning to use the tools and I have added layers although I downloaded it as one image. I gave the image a title so I can find it again.

Blog posting stats

Today in Dealing with Data we were looking at the stats of blog posts over time. I looked at Nese's Blog. Nese is from Edmund Hillary School in Papakura.

I can see that 2020 and 2019 were great for the number of blog posts. I wonder what the reasons are for the lower 2021 numbers. I know a long lockdown might be a big factor.

Of course, I will need to dig into the quality of the blog posts as a next step.

Audio Instructions on a Class Site

Adding audio instructions to a class site can help learners who need more than written instructions.

I used the Mote extension to record the instructions and then copied the url of the audio file from the Mote Activities page.

I embedded the file in a google site by pasting the url and resized the audio file.

Here is my example on a site.

Who is visiting my blog

We are learning about where people are from who are visiting my blog.

I know that more people will come to my blog and they might be from other countries.

I will see where people are from who are visiting my blog using the Revolver map.

Comparing embedding a sheet with a screenshot

Embedding a Google Sheet shows as a very small window so a screenshot is easier to see.

Changing Images

Here is my learning about changing images. I know that images are not always real online and now I have practised changing my own images.

Monday 26 July 2021

Changing up images

When I see images online I know they might be fake as I know how to create fake images myself.

I will be careful that I do not believe everything I see online.

We were learning about what makes a quality blog post.

Here is my checklist to help me remember.

Do you think I need to add anything?

Do you think this image is real or fake?

Me pēhea taku pōhi e kounga ai?

We are learning about how to make a quality blog post.

I tried to find Māori kupu that were correct for what I needed.

What do you think the best phrase is for a Digital Learning Object?

What We Share

We were learning about what to share online.

I found this learning hard because I needed to search on the blog and it was hard to find the information.

Creating with Code

We used the Scratch Jr app on ipads to create.

This was fun to do as I enjoyed the Scratch Jr learning.

Here is how I recorded the Scratch Jr project on my iPad. I used the built-in record function on the control panel and turned on the audio recording.

The recording whet to my photos and then I airdropped to my Macbook or I could upload to Drive to use later.

Quality is Cool | Te Kounga o te pōhi rangitaki

We are learning about what makes a quality blog post.

I found this fun to look at other people's blog posts. Some parts of this were hard and it might be an opinion.

Next, I need to look at my blog post!

This was part of the DFI day on creating multimodal content. This aligns with UDL principles.

Embedding a chart from a google sheet

We have been creating charts using google sheets.
We published the chart and copied the embed code.

Sometimes the size was wrong so I added width=600 height=400 after the first <iframe in the HTML
